The Per Diem Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering quality nursing care to all clients. The Registered Nurse provides an initial health assessment of youth entering the facility including but not limited to health history, physical exams, and laboratory tests and provides treatment of emergency and/or serious acute health conditions.
Job Responsibilities
Oversees and coordinates daily operation of medical unit; dispenses medications to be administered by non-medical staff in the absence of medical personnel.
Provides initial health assessments of all newly admitted youth. Maintains records of all youth health assessments.
Conducts clinics daily; assessing, medicating, treating and educating - in Spanish 80-90% of the time.
Treats youth on schedule and delivers first aid / emergency care to youth when needed.
Job Requirements
Current New York State Registered Nurse(RN). Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum 3- 5 years of relative experience.
Experience with at-risk youth in an institutional environment preferred.
Flexible schedule and ability to provide weekend, holiday and on call coverage.
Ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population.
