ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Supports therapy care delivery by preparing treatment areas, patient equipment, and materials. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Performs procedures under supervision of a therapy providers (such as helping patients onto therapy equipment, monitoring motion and activity, measuring mobility).
Demonstrates proper use of equipment and prescribed exercises. Assists patients with therapeutic exercise programs. Assists with application of therapeutic modalities such as hot pack/ice packs
Maintains required patient care documentation and reporting of therapy sessions. Provides families with information/instructions on follow up care as established by the treating therapist and answering any questions or requests.
Conducts patient and family rounding to ensure patient’s/family’s comfort level while at the facility.
Sterilizes and delivers equipment and supplies to treatment area, positioning equipment for therapist access. Completes preventive maintenance on equipment, following manufacturer’s instructions and troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment.
Maintains therapy supply inventory by checking stock (2 bin system or PAR levels) to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies.
Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
Provides general support for administrative functions and processes that support a department and its team members. Schedules follow up appointments in the treatment area, prints and distributes patient home programs; and educates families on the benefits of using MyChart.
Provides customer service support and assistance to patients, families, physicians, and other internal/external customers. Provides orientation and training to all providers through new departmental orientation, building and safety checklists, and annual AED training.
