Core Responsibilities

  • Create background and briefing materials on key matters, and develop summaries, articles, advocacy materials for use by Government Affairs.
  • Work and maintain relationships with legislative staff for Council Members.
  • Monitor introduced Council Legislation that relates to Con Edison.
  • Drafts testimony on behalf of Con Edison for City Council Hearings and Agency Rules Hearings.
  • Participate in cross-functional brainstorms and strategy meetings with consultants and relevant team members.
  • Assist the Section Manager of Government Affairs, Director of Government & Community Relations, and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs in preparation of responses to legislators, committees and agencies as needed.
  • Attend virtual and in person meetings and functions with city officials and their staffs.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of working in legislative body, Government Affairs or Public Affairs.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and implement new ideas and processes. Required
  • Experience working on legislation with New York City Council. Required
  • Experience drafting testimony. Required
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills. Required
  • Experience working cross-functionally within an organization on projects and key priorities. Preferred
