POSITION PROFILE.


Current Global is looking for a Senior Vice President - Media Relations for our Healthcare practice. Based in New York, we are looking for leaders with expert understanding of how earned media intersects with paid, owned and influencer disciplines, as they will develop and guide media relations strategies within the context of integrated communications campaigns spanning corporate, consumer, healthcare and technology clients.

With an inquisitive and analytical nature, the ideal candidate will boast established relationships with reporters across a variety of media categories, including - but not limited to - top-tier, business, healthcare trades, technology, consumer and broadcast. They will be passionate about instilling best practices and mentoring a team on how to cultivate relationships, develop compelling story narratives, deliver impactful earned coverage, and measure the value of their work. This leader will collaborate with our Insights, Content and Client Experience communities to develop and execute strategic and creative client plans, providing ongoing client counsel and driving new business growth.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Have an ear to the ground on the rapidly evolving life sciences, biotech and health tech sectors.
  • Have a robust track record of providing media counsel to C-suite and senior client leaders in these fields.
  • Be an early adopter of new media trends, platforms and practices; promote learnings to our entire organization and instill best practices with our earned media specialists.
  • Understand client business goals and target audiences to craft multi-platform communications plans that leverage the most effective media players and personalities and deliver on key program metrics.
  • Translate communications strategy into relevant, timely and engaging story narratives, working closely with the Content team to ensure creative ideas will breakthrough with media.
  • Supervise the development of content (key messages, pitches, alerts, releases, social copy, etc.) that positively positions clients and educates media on a client's point of view.
  • Collaborate with digital, social and influencer counterparts internally and on the client side to ensure earned results carry through integrated programming.
  • Understand the role and power of paid media to accelerate earned media campaigns, working with paid media teams to amplify content.
  • Identify news cycles, cultural shifts, industry trends and issues that affect clients, distilling meaningful insights and inserting clients' narratives in targeted, relevant, and insightful ways when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS.

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in PR (agency or corporate in-house), journalism or media property.
  • Experience working in multiple therapeutic areas in healthcare.
  • Significant experience providing thought leadership and counsel to senior management.
  • Depth in stakeholder mapping and building earned media campaigns to reach them in engaging ways.
  • Trusted, personal relationships with influential media and journalists.
  • Journalistic instincts and skills in uncovering and developing stories.
  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills that are clear, concise and direct.
  • Work well collaborating across various teams and talent communities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

NYC Salary Range: $171,000 - $235,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
