The College of Business at Stony Brook University (SBU) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position, Professor of Practice or Lecturer in Finance, starting in Fall 2024. Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Develop and teach courses in corporate finance, real estate finance, investment management, entrepreneurial finance, and/or other areas of finance at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Help the Finance area and the College of Business establish industry connections and create opportunities and engagement activities for students to interact with the financial industry.

  • Provide mentorship and support for student clubs, internships, case competitions, and other extracurricular activities to enhance student career readiness and development in the financial industry.

  • Participate in administrative and committee work at the College level and as part of the broader University community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • For the Associate Professor of Practice position, a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited program in finance or any other related field. For the Lecturer position, a Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited program in finance or any other related field.

  • A track record of, or demonstrated potential and passion for, excellent teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate finance courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A track record of excellence in teaching subjects in finance or other related areas in different modalities.

  • Strong connections with the financial industry and extensive experience in industry engagement and partnership building.

  • Strongly Desired: Experience or interest in teaching courses in real estate (finance) and insurance and/or interacting with the real estate industry.

  • Demonstrate awareness of and commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion across all spectrums.

  • Evidence of engagement activities in the academic or professional community to qualify for and/or sustain the AACSB academics/practitioner status.

For the Associate Professor of Practice position, also include a research statement and research paper sample(s).
