Job Description

Principal Hardware Engineer

Qualification:

Engineering graduate (Masters Degree optional)

Responsibility:

Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

  • a Participate in hardware requirement gathering workshops / sessions and support documentation wherever applicable.
  • a Raise queries and seek resolution where unclear / ambiguous.
  • review the technical aspect of documents and provide inputs / comments as required.
  • a Gather necessary design requirements and understand transformation requirements.

Resource/ Efforts Estimation and Monitoring:

  • a Understand how the estimation (effort size etc) is done at task level in the area of work concerned.
  • study non functional requirements and design.
  • a Measure and report the actual effort against the estimated effort and track task progress reporting in C20 (or any other applicable tool).
  • understand and leverage the estimation templates for new and on going projects.
  • a Keep a close track on any changes to Requirements and impact to cost and schedule.

Design:

  • a Leverage technology expertise to create the LL (low level) Design and detailed design document.
  • review all deliverables created by the hardwrae designer.
  • understand the Interdependencies of various circuits in a complete board design that is being developed.
  • a Create detailed design.
  • provide input to the Project Manager / Tech Lead for revision of the project plan from a technical perspective or creating of plan for sub modules of the project.
  • a Provide support in development of proof of concept as designed by Designer / Hardware Architect.
  • initiate development environment setup.
  • a Provide design files to customer for early feedback.
  • create quality check points for all deliverables.
  • create design documents with the support of the hardware architects for the assigned scope.

Testing:

  • a Design a test jig to perform QTP (Qualification tets plan)and ATP (Acceptance test plan) based on the requirement.
  • conduct comprehensive unit testing.
  • a Prepare and support the preparation of unit test strategy.
  • plan document and data requirements.
  • automate unit testing and contribute to automation of unit testing with required hardware.
  • a Conduct peer review of design.
  • perform simulation by integrating all circuits of different modules.
  • review test plan as prepared by the hardwrae designer.
  • a Support all upstream and downstream hardware modules for integration and connectivity testing.

Defect Management:

  • a Participate in defect triage meetings.
  • conduct RCA for design defects identified.
  • Perform DFMEA analysis for all designs and provide ideas for solution in the designBased on circuit simulations analyse the design defects and correct in the design.

Process Improvements and Adherence:

  • a Participate in innovation sessions.
  • implement process improvements to reduce manual intervention (eg automation).
  • provide support for process audit activities.
  • a Generate ideas to bring about any form of value add and share the same with Tech Lead.
  • adhere to process and tools (usage of cognizant 20.
  • awareness of quality management system IDE etc).

Knowledge Management:

  • a Contribute towards updating knowledge assets design ideas Tools for circuit analysis.
  • a Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for new hires in the project team.
  • conduct training through academy (if approved).
  • a Guide and mentor team members from a technical perspective to ensure quality improvement.
  • contribute to / search / reuse all types of assets from repository.

People management:

  • a Engage with the team.
  • resolve / address conflict within the team.
  • provide coaching to team members and develop their capability.
  • a Conduct internal trainings for developers within team.
