Accountabilities
Each summer, the Information Technology Services department seeks additional staffing to complete the many projects and summer operational procedures that must be accomplished to prepare for the upcoming academic year. The staffing needs can vary by project, and in skill level required, and in many cases the skills can be learned on the job. Typically, our work load requires us to staff for service desk assistance, classroom technology maintenance, inventory and review of equipment - including the deployment of new equipment and the retirement of older equipment, webpage and other communication updates, wired and wireless networking maintenance, as well as other tasks critical to the support.

We are seeking candidates who not only meet the technical requirements of the position but also demonstrate a commitment to embracing diversity of thought. Under direct or indirect supervision, after training and standard procedures are explained, the Information Technology Assistant will be tasked with some of the following:
  • Respond to inquiries and request for help and providing customer service in person, on the phone, or over email to answer questions, assist in providing one of our many services, or assisting in the resolution of technology problems.
  • Assist with the maintenance and/or installation of computer and/or AV equipment or wired/wireless network devices in offices and/or classrooms and/or other spaces on campus. This includes the testing of new hardware, as well as inspecting and assessing equipment used for loaning.
  • Test newly installed software, and work under supervision to develop a training program for student staff.
  • Assist with revisions of web content.
  • Setup and/or breakdown and cleanup of physical space.
  • Assist with general database entry and/or verification of data and clean up.
Requirements

Professional Experience/ Qualifications

  • Able to set up and connect/disconnect computer systems, including, but not limited to laptops, docking stations, and monitors.

  • Depending on duties: a current valid driver's license, in accordance with the University's Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of computers - both Windows and Mac OS.
  • Knowledge of tablets and mobile devices.
  • Basic understanding of a computer network.
  • Experience with Equipment Lending Software/Connect2.
  • Experience with Camera and Video Equipment.
  • Experience with DSLR Cameras.
  • Experience with Audio Capture Equipment.
  • Experience with 3D Printers.
  • Experience with Website Builders (i.e. WordPress, Google Sites).
  • Ability to lift and/or move equipment.
Education
Highschool diploma or equivalent.
