The Senior Lead Engineer, Structural is responsible for working with and leading a team of designers and engineers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load-bearing structures.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Leads a team of Engineers and Designers, as well as plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects
  • Collaborates with other design disciplines and contractors to support the development of design deliverables such as reports, drawings and specifications
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals
  • Attends construction and design verification walks and submit report of observations
  • Prepares structural engineering calculations and finite element modelling
  • Serves as a technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area
  • Represents the organization and maintains liaisons with individuals and related organizations
  • Analyses and designs very complex structural systems of a building or other structure
  • Coordinates structural models and drawings with the other design disciplines
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs or applications
  • Mentors other structural members of project teams
  • Leads the development of office standards and procedures
  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Control on projects
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with Structural emphasis required
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) Degree from ABET/EAC accredited program is preferred
  • Exhibit a professional demeanour and be a proactive problem solver
  • Adept at interfacing with and aligning multiple stakeholders with diplomacy while exhibiting a professional demeanour
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills along with respect, tact and diplomacy, and ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Exhibit characteristics of a leader
  • Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Building Systems Software design and delivery systems
  • Mastery of structural finite element analysis software such as RAM and STAAD
  • Innate knowledge of industry drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
  • Recognized authority on application of codes and standards for building structures
  • Understands differences between Design-Build and other project delivery methods
  • Ability to work with global teams and/or multi-office project execution is desirable
  • Ability to manage several staff members on a large project
  • Registration/licensure is required as either a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) (preferred)
  • LEED AP or GA a plus
