From your PASSION to ours

Under the supervision of the Plant HR Manager, the HR Generalist will support all facets of human resources for the plant including recruiting, payroll, policy interpretation, performance management, training, and employee relations. The HR Generalist will also serve as the front-line point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, practices and programs as well as general HR questions. S/he will also assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resource policies, programs and practices.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Proactively source, recruit, interview and facilitate the hiring of hourly employees; collaborates with department managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings. Engages the Corporate TA team and 3rd party vendors as needed. Represents the plant at Job Fairs and other local employment events.
  • Coordinates the onboarding process, including but not limited to, conducting pre-employment background and drug screening, and issuing job offer letters. Initiates onboarding activities, partners with plant HR and management teams to schedule orientations.
  • Monitors employee benefits, vacation/personal time, leaves of absence, and all necessary paperwork for new hires and terminated employees in coordination with the US Shared Services team.
  • Administers the offboarding processes. Schedules exit interviews, processes systems terminations and responds to unemployment claims. Proactively identifies trends and suggests solutions to increase retention.
  • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing, which includes ensuring the accuracy of timecards, pay data, and other payroll related information. Partners with Shared Services to ensure a smooth and accurate payroll delivery. Responds to Federal, State and Local inquiries as needed.
  • Promotes an engaging culture through positive interactions with all employees, including a presence on the plant floor. Proposes programs to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. Serves as HR representative on plant engagement committee.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Answers questions, interprets and administers company policies and helps to resolve work-related issues. Participates in less complex employee relations investigations, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Plant HR Manager.



Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources Management or related field is required.
  • 3+ years Human Resource experience and familiarity with payroll, recruitment and employee relations is required.
  • Human Resources experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with HRIS systems, Paylocity and UKG preferred.
  • Strong customer service focus with ability to manage and resolve conflict.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a changing, complex environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgement, tact, and discretion.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and practices and federal and state employment laws.
  • Flexibility to support 24/7 operations is required.
