Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is seeking to fill a position of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. The position may be based in Kleinfelder's office in Boston or Westborough, MA.

The ideal candidate will:

    Direct junior staff to perform field activities including geotechnical drilling, laboratory testing and construction observations with subcontractors.
  • Coordinate geotechnical tasks and manage medium to large size geotechnical projects.
  • Review construction submittals and daily field reports.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and prepare geotechnical reports for the design and construction of shallow and deep foundations.
  • Review work of and mentor junior staff.
  • Prepare contract specifications and drawings.
  • Interrelate with external clients and subcontractors.

We are looking for someone with the ability to provide quality technical support on mainly transportation but also commercial, municipal, energy and water projects. Experience on design/build projects preferred.

Strong analytical skills are required in areas including:

  • Geotechnical engineering evaluations including:
    • Earth retention systems design,
    • Shallow and deep foundation design,
    • Ground improvement techniques
    • Earthquake engineering,
  • Experience with drilling oversight and soil and rock classification,
  • Experience with construction oversight
    • Subgrade observations, observation of backfill and compaction, deep foundation installation, etc.
  • HDD or Tunnel Design experience is a plus but not required

Education & Experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Must have a positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks and junior staff
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to travel and perform field work, even under inclement weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Position will require the candidate to adhere to work assignments/schedules, be self-motivated, organized and have a keen sense of detail.
  • Candidate must be willing to work in addition to a standard 40-hour work week when needed.
