GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Works under the direction of the Plant Quality Lead and in proximity with the Value Streams to lead and execute quality tasks for product received, returned, and shipped.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Manages the daily incoming and outgoing inspection process.

2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and other related documentation.

3. Coordinates with internal customers to resolve quality issues and initiate preventative action.

4. Documents, maintains and trends nonconformances and effectively communicates issues internally and externally to suppliers. Obtains required information, returning parts, and obtains the corrective action. Works when applicable on preventative action for nonconformances.

5. Coordinates and facilitates the Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR) to maintain the processes. Assigns action items to appropriate person and follows up on resolution, including escalation. Manages the historical log/update list.

6. Participates in cross functional teams and High Performance Teams (HPT). Leads High Performance Teams when appropriate.

7. Evaluates material returned from customers and documents appropriately, including facilitating disposition.

8. Understands, follows and recommends improvements to quality system processes.

9. Collects and maintains data for plant capability studies/key metrics. Uses statistical software to enter data and interpret results. Publishes key metrics to quality engineer for audit and review.

10. Maintains gauge calibration and verification system. Obtains RFQ's from suppliers, collects and prepares gauges for shipment, understands results from calibration reports, enters data into calibration system, and takes appropriate action.

11. Leads the Quality Gemba process by presenting issues and actions required for disposition of returns requiring value stream evaluation.

12. Leads internal audits of production and ISO to proactively identify potential issues.

13. Active participant in problem solving team by setting up sampling plans for incoming inspection, collecting data, interpreting results and communicating findings.

14. Leads corrective action efforts by creating quality alerts and audits where applicable.

15. Trains Quality Technicians I and II and provides performance feedback.

16. Demonstrates ability to prioritize daily functions to satisfy customer expectations.

17. Follows established safety and environmental policies, procedures and methods applicable to the work environment.

18. Performs other duties as necessary, including recommendations for improvement of processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

* Associate's degree in an applied science, trade school degree or a high school diploma with equivalent experience (minimum of 5 years in a quality or inspection role in a manufacturing environment).

* Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) and/or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) and/or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is required.

EXPERIENCE:

* 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

* Experience in maintaining and improving ISO 9001 & 14001 systems is preferred.

* Basic metrology and sampling plan experience.

Pay Range: $22.50 - $39.00

SKILLS:

* Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and 5S tools. Leader in 5S activities within the quality hold area.

* Ability to effectively communicate and lead team members in a cross-functional environment.

* Ability to organize, maintain and present information in order to make an informed decision or recall information later.

* Working knowledge of part drawings and appropriate tools to measure features.

* Expertise with inspection techniques, quality/statistical tools, instruments/equipment, and general business operations.

* Ability to assess and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Computer skills including MS Office, e-mail and ability to learn Parker business systems. Working knowledge of statistical software.

* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

* Ability to effectively work in a team-oriented atmosphere to establish and maintain effective quality systems as well as taking appropriate corrective action to continually improve.

* Basic electrical and mechanical aptitude for testing functionality of components.
